The Peh Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy is organised by Nine Star Sports Organisation (NSSO) in memory of those Naga workers from Peh Village who have sacrificed their life for the cause of Naga Nation.

The 20th edition of Peh Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy football tournament began on Monday. The tournament was opened by MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency, Khashim Vashum who was the chief guest of the day.
MLA Khashim Vashum while hoisting the flag stated that “this is the time to give our utmost respect to the departed souls of Naga national workers who have laid down their precious life for the cause of Naga Nation. May we all be reminded through this celebration about the sacrifice they have made and may we be infuse with the spirit of oneness and sense of deep patriotism through this celebration. Let us follow the footprint of the past and present leaders and strengthen our cause.” MLA Khashim Vashum wishes best of luck to all the participating teams while opening the tournament.
MLA Khashim Vashum also distributed Old Age pension card to 14 elders and Care Giver Allowance card to the person with disabilities to 10 persons.
Headman of Peh, AS Mawonshang reminded about the scarcity of water and the problem faced by the villagers in procuring drinking waters especially during winter and dry season. He also appeal the concerned authority to kindly look into this grievances at the greater interest of the villagers.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Former ADC Members of Ukhrul, Lawrence Tuizar, Paothing Vashum, Ngamsung Hashuwo and K Dickson. MLA Khashim Vashum and his teams were also given warm reception at Paorei and Phungcham by his supporters on his return journey.
The participating teams paid a floral tribute to the departed souls before the first match was kick off. In the opening Ngahurum Mayar Ngala Long defeated Amateur FC by a score of 3-1. A total of 6 football clubs from Peh village were invited for participation in the ongoing tournament that will wind up on January 1, 2022.
