It is also learnt that the main accused in the case, the then Chief Engineer (Power) now re-engaged as Managing Director, MSPCL is absconding and is reported to be have left for Bengaluru on March 30, 2022 by violating his interim anticipatory bail condition laid down in the court order dated February 14, 2022

Two accused persons have been arrested on March 31 in connection with the case related to embezzlement of huge amount of public money from the fund for the project for the construction of 2x1MVA sub-station at Chakpi Karong.
According to highly placed sources, the two were arrested based on FIR No. 4(02)2022 CB-PS u/s 7(b)/13PC Act & 120-B/34 IPC by SP Kakching Shrey Vats (IPS).
The two arrested persons have been identified as Aribam Rajendra Sharma, the then A.E. of Lokchao Sub-Station now re-engaged as DGM/Transmission Div. No. III, MSPCL (Manipur State Power Company Limited) and Okram Yaiskul Singh, the then S.0 Transmission Construction Div. No. 1 (now retired). The two have been remanded to police custody of seven days by the Special Judge (Lokayukta), Manipur.
The case pertains to embezzlement of huge amount of public money from the fund for the project – construction of 2x1MVA sub-station at Chakpi Karong along with associated 33 kV line (for 45 kms) and related civil work on Turn-Key basis under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) Scheme by causing major changes to the project in an unauthorized manner and also by doing illegal activities in the name of executing the project.
The FIR in the case was lodged after a detailed enquiry into the case by the Lokayukta , Manipur. It is also learnt that the main accused of the case, N Sarat Singh, the then Chief Engineer (Power) now re-engaged as Managing Director, MSPCL is absconding and is reported to be have left for Bengaluru on March 30, 2022 by violating his interim anticipatory bail condition laid down in the court order dated February 14, 2022. He has retired as chief engineer (power), Manipur after serving for 5 years in 2014 and has since been serving as the Managing Director of MSPCL for the last 7 years.
