Thousands of students participated in a peaceful protest rally on Tuesday at Ukhrul Headquarters against the kidnapping of a 12-year-old minor and a student on June 10, 2022 at around 4pm. The students submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister, Government of Manipur through the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul.

The peaceful protest rally was organized by Association of Recognised Schools Ukhrul District (ARSUD) against the kidnapping of a minor who was a school student in Ukhrul District Headquarters on June 10, 2022 at around 4:00pm.
The rally flagged of from North and South point of Ukhrul Headquarters at 10:00am and 10:30am respectively and converge at Mini Secretariat Complex. Thousands of students in school uniform participated the peaceful protest rally and submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister, Government of Manipur, through the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul.
DC of Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar while receiving the memorandum at the gate of Mini Secretariat Complex assured the representatives of ARSUD that he will immediately forward the memorandum to the Education Minister. He stated that “investigation is going on and action will be taken as soon as possible.”
The memorandum said that on June 10, the student was on his way to a coaching centre at around 4pm. He was “caught by five (5) kidnappers and was drugged. Later after an hour he was found abandoned in an isolated place packed in a gunny bag”.
“The issue has created panic and a sense of insecurity to all the school going students and parents in particular amd the public in general.
“It is therefore requested that:
1. The culprits be booked at the earliest
2. The safety of students are ensured
3. Medical care of the victim is ensured.”
Investigating Officer, SI Marchang W informed this correspondent that investigation is in full swing taking into account from all angles.”
