The Tangkhul Express, the only online YouTube news channel of Tangkhul community turns one year on Wednesday

The Tagkhul Express (TTE)- the only online YouTube news channel of Tangkhul community celebrated its first anniversary at Zimik Plaza Conference Hall, Viewland, Ukhrul on Wednesday.
The celebration was attended by former MLA of 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency, Alfred Kanngam Arthur. Speaking at the occasion, Alfred Kanngam Arthur quoted Proverbs 17:13 “If anyone returns evil for good, evil will never depart from his house.” He stated that “it is time for Tangkhul community to give back good for good. God is truth and the truth is God. Truth does not go away. God will not go away. Let evil never be a part of TTE Team. Give back the truth and good to the community.”
“The Fourth estate is there because the three pillars, that is, legislature, executive and judiciary, are not enough for efficient governance. Thus, the media is there to maintain check and balance. The fundamental right is very clear on this. Right to freedom of expression. However, we are looking at an environment where anyone is attacked under different laws such UAPA for having an opinion. But, I urge the media to give information without any fear” stated Alfred Kanngam Arthur
“Today, anybody can establish a media house or channel in YouTube without going through the various process like in the past. To err is human, but how you reach your destination is very important. The journey you have taken while trying to reach your destination is very very important” stated Alfred Kanngam Arthur. In support of clean and good journalism, Alfred Kanngam Arthur promised to bear the salary of TTE staff members for 10 months.
President of Ecological Rehabilitators Association (ERA), Michael Shaiza while congratulating The Tangkhul Express for their service and for completing one year stated that “the news channel should also be a pmatform to popularise and improve the pronunciations and spellings of Tangkhul language.”
Editor of TTE, Yozori K Shimray stated that “the Tangkhul Express – though newly created have received lots of love and support from the Tangkhul community. The power of media is very powerful and we promised to give the true ground report. We have come thus far because of your love and support and we expect the same undivided support even in the days to come.”
Founder and Director of TTE, Ramngachan Ningshen narrated the struggle during their initial stage.
“We struggle really hard because we don’t have the necessary equipment and fund. Due to shortage of fund we were compelled to raise fund through crowd funding. We still do other works like wedding photography and videography so as to meet the office expenses of The Tangkhul Express” informed Ramngachan Ningshen.
The celebration was attended by leaders from Tangkhul Longnao and other well wishers.
