Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has taken serious note of the “shocking conduct of the valley-based organization, namely Meetei Leepun” for locking up the Imphal office of the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM).

A press note issued by Yuimi Vashum, General Secretary of TKS said that Meetei Leepun had the “audacity to lock the ATSUM office by taking the law into its own hand. This is nothing but a motivated attempt to communalize tribal issue. The Saklong demands befitting criminal action against the said organization in accordance with law”.

Further, the Saklong strongly condemned the “atrocities” meted out by the Manipur State Police on the tribal student community where over thirty (30) students in their uniform were injured during the peaceful rally that took place on Saturday in Imphal. The Saklong regrets that democracy at the hands of the ruling dispensation is becoming a story of the past.

The Saklong said it will not be cowed down by such politics of threat and intimidation and vowed to intensify the agitation in connection with the ADC Bill in the coming days.
