Student bodies of the state welcomed the appointment of Prof Naorem Lokendra Singh as the new vice chancellor of Manipur University and expressed hope for the varsity to scale new heights under his leadership.
In a joint release, six student bodies — AIMS, AMSU, DESAM, KSA, MSF, and SUK — maintained that the varsity was facing problems in academics and administration due to the lack of a regular VC in the past few years.
The student bodies also urged the new VC to focus on certain parameters so that the ranking of the varsity may increase. It also mentioned that guidelines and rules issued by UGC and NCTE should be implemented regularly so that the varsity may keep up with the ever changing norms of imparting education.
