The Manipuri (Meitei) Association, Navi Mumbai (MMANM) has expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Manipur which “threatens the peace, security, and socio-cultural fabric of the state”.
“The root cause of this conflict lies in the massive influx of both armed and unarmed illegal immigrants from the bordering country that led to destabilization of Manipur’s demographic profile, resources, and protected areas/ land. The imbalance in land possession and purchasing rights, along with the trafficking of drugs and arms through porous international boundaries, poses a significant threat to the state’s and subsequently nation’s security” said the association in a statement.
MMANM reminded that Manipur, with its rich history spanning over 2000 years, is a land of immense cultural and historical significance. Any attempt to disintegrate its geography would not only distort its history, culture, and heritage but also undermine the aspirations and identity of Manipuris. “We firmly stand for the integrity of Manipur, promoting equality and equity across all communities”, said the association.

The association pledged unwavering support to the people of Manipur in their quest for peace, justice, and harmonious coexistence. “We extend our heartfelt appeal to all stakeholders, including the governments, civil society organizations, and fellow citizens to come together and work towards resolving the issues”, said MMANM.
