United All Communities’ Social Up-lifters (UNACSU) has appealed to all the communities to engage themselves in a political dialogue to resolve differences and support the state government’s recent steps in a “people friendly” manner.
UNACSU in a press note also expressed regret over the recent violent incident in Kangpokpi that left some people injured. “However, it is imperative for all to shoulder responsibility on maintaining the ecological balance of Manipur” said UNACSU.
The organisation also said it was unfortunate to note that “some of us who kept highlighting the unity of people from the hills and the valley had been trying to portray an inimical picture of a community through the social media platform”. “We appeal all not to engage in such acts”, said UNACSU.
“Let us defend ourselves from those who had been trying to break our unity and mislead us towards division”, asserted UNACSU.
Even in the valley, the state government has taken up measures to prevent encroachers from constructing homesteads in cultivable land and fields”, pointed out UNACSU. It further added that such constructions can be done after obtaining permits from the government
“If there ever is any difference over the action taken up by the state government, all the communities should find a room to honestly discuss their interests. We appeal all to move towards this direction”, said the press note.
It is natural for those people who have settled in the hills to move to other places if they do not have land to live. However, this move should be made after obtaining due permit from the government and by not disturbing the ecological balance of the land and without the destruction of reserved forests, said UNACSU.
