Lungnila Elizabeth case: Two sentenced to life imprisonment

The minor daughter of Francis Ngajokpa, a former minister in government of Manipur was kidnapped on November 4, 2003 from a school located at Sangaiprou, Imphal West District, Manipur where she was studying. She was found dead on November 12, 2003

Session Judge, Imphal (East), Manipur on Monday sentenced Ningombam Rome Meitei and Letkhosei Haokip to undergo life imprisonment in a case related to kidnapping and murder of a minor girl.
CBI had registered a case on March 29, 2004 on the request of Manipur Government and taken over the investigation of FIR No. 181(11) dated 05.11.2003, earlier registered at Police Station Lamphel against unknown culprits. It was alleged that Miss Lungnila Elizabeth (aged 8 years), daughter of Francis Ngajokpa, a former minister in Government of Manipur was kidnapped on November 4, 2003 from a school located at Sangaiprou, Imphal West District, Manipur where she was studying. She was found dead on November 12, 2003 inside a gunny bag in a ditch at Tera Sadokpam Leikai, Imphal West District, Manipur.
After investigation, a charge sheet was filed on December 28, 2007 against four accused. During the trial, two of the accused passed away. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
