The villagers of Phungcham welcomes 2022 with fanfare under the theme “first thing first” organised by Phungcham Katamnao Mayar Ngala Long (PKMNL)

Former Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Preshow MK Shimray, attended the New Year Celebration of Phungcham village as the Chief Guest. Clad in their traditional attires, the villagers escorted Preshow MK Shimray, BJP intending candidate from 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency to the venue. The villagers also extended warm reception to the invitees.
Preshow MK Shimray stated that “to bring progressive development in our community, we must first entrust everything unto God. The people must be united and work hand in hand. Only then, we can bring change. For the place to progress, the people of the District must also be united. Until and unless, we are united, we can never see development in our place.”
He further added that politics is not about merry making or organizing feast but to choose the right person to represent the people. Focusing on the youth, he shared that “it is your duty to elect the best person who can lead as well as stand up when needed or guide the people when they need guidance, and provide the people with resources when they do not have access to it.” He further urged the youth “to be aware of the political scenario even though all of you cannot be active politicians.”
He also released “Yangreiram Khanuithot Ākhon” a bilingual booklet published by Kazem Shim, a group formed by some.of the young students of Phungcham. The booklet focuses on environment, tourism, education and others.
Attending the celebration as the guest of honour, Khawungsing Ronra Shimray also delivered short speech. Chief Guest distributed prizes to the winners of First Phungcham Marathon Race. President of PKMNL, Lanmichan Yangya facilitated the students who have excelled and performed exceptional in 2021 and also gave away prizes to the winners of Phungcham Got Talent Season-III.
Preshow MK Shimray was accompanied by huge number of his supporters. One of the main attraction of today’s celebration was the traditional folk songs and folk dances displayed by Phungcham Parei Gahar Long.
