Village Authority of Phungcham and PKMNL have vowed to carry on the destruction of poppy plantation within its jurisdiction.

On the direction of Headman of Phungcham, Ukhrul district, destruction of poppy cultivation was carried out on Tuesday at two areas of Phungcham by members of village authority and youth organisation.
Members of Phungcham Village Authority and Phungcham Katamnao Mayar Ngala Long (PKMNL) destroyed poppy cultivation at two areas, namely Thangthem and Thaithi within the jurisdiction of Phungcham Village.
Village Mantri of Phungcham, Ringkhan Horam, informed this correspondent that the destruction of poppy plantation was taken up on Tuesday at Phungcham Village in support of Manipur government’s “War On Drugs” campaign and also in support of the ongoing awareness campaign by Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM).
President of PKMNL Mayonsing Khaleng stated that “the youth of Phungcham will always support the “War on Drugs” campaign by Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh. The youth of Phungcham will always extend maximum cooperation to the Village Authority in their drive against the destruction of poppy plantation at Phungcham.”
