Massive security arrangements is in full swing. It was learnt that altogether 165 “Coys” comprising of over 16000 jawans including central forces would be send to poll bound Manipur via Dimapur, and Silchar-Jiribam by February 24.

With polling for 117 Assembly seats in Punjab held amid tight security arrangements on February 20 wherein jawans from Nagaland had played an important role in the peaceful conduct of the poll, the personnel from the 9 and 10 NAP (IR) will be deployed once again for the ensuing Manipur assembly elections on February 28 and March 5.
When contacted, a source told this correspondent that the jawans are still on their way beyond the schedule timing and not sure whether they could reach their destination.
Sharing his experiences in the recently held Punjab assembly elections, the source shared that they had good experience where even the administration, local police and the people extended their every possible help and cooperated along while executing their duties.
He said that though they were deployed in some sensitive areas but they managed with support from the local populace and others.
When asked with regard to another challenges ahead them during the ensuing Manipur elections, the source said he supposed this is the first time that Nagaland police has been deployed for election duty in Manipur, and yet to be detailed of their exact deployment.
He later stated that they all are preparing themselves, mentally briefing the officers and the jawans to face any eventualities and are ready to perform the “challenges” ahead whichever it might be.
