The NSCN (I-M) has slammed Nagaland Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Temjen Imna Along’s comment on the outfit’s demand for Naga flag and constitution (Yehzabo) in a recent speech on the floor of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

In a statement issued by the outfit’s MIP, NSCN (I-M) said that Temjen Imna Along’s “nonsense utterance on the Naga flag and the constitution has once again put himself in the hot glare of the Naga people. He is utterly insensitive to the reality of the Naga history and the God’s given political identity as a nation and as a people.”

The outfit said that this has only exposed the state BJP president’s “heartless and cruel mentality” exploiting every given opportunity to castigate the very symbols that identify the Nagas that they are not a lost people.

“Who is Temjen Along who defiantly chose words to go headlong against the Naga people’s political identity with his infuriating statement saying “Flag and constitution are not achievable?”, asked the NSCN (I-M).

“A boy of yesterday in political arena but in a damning hurry to make his presence felt by dancing madly to the anti-Naga tune played by his political mentors, RSS/BJP” said the outfit.

Significantly, much before Imna Along was given birth to this earth, thousands of Naga people have attained “martyrdom defending the legitimate historical and political rights of the Nagas as symbolized by the Naga flag and the constitution. Many have embraced death to give a better future to our motherland” said the statement issued by MIP.

Reiterating that the rainbow flag of the Naga nation was “something very uniquely made”, NSCN (I-M) said that it was designed as “divinely inspired and is not the brainwork of anybody”. This symbolized the covenant between “God and the Naga people”. The Naga people cannot be so “unfaithful and treacherous to forsake what God has given to lead them as a nation and as a people”, added the outfit.

NSCN (I-M) also said that it had no objection to Imna Along’s “desperateness” to establish his political base backed by his mentor BJP/RSS. “But in the process he should not fiddle with the Naga flag and the constitution that is too big for his size. He has proved himself as recklessly immature to touch on the sensitive Naga issue at such a critical stage. The Naga flag and the constitution are something too big for his flamboyant political gamble” asserted the outfit.

Exercise revolutionary responsibility to forbear any hardship, says Q Tuccu

The Tatar Hoho Budget Session of the GPRN was on March 23 at the Council Headquarters (CHq), Hebron, Nagaland.
In his presidential speech, Q Tuccu, Chairman (Yaruiwo) reiterated the stand of the NSCN when he said, “The ongoing Indo-Naga political talks that has entered a critical stage is being watched with much curiosity by the people around the world because it matters how the Naga people rise up to the occasion to defend their political identity as symbolized by the Naga national flag and the constitution (Yehzabo). We cannot afford to waver in this crucial
stage. We have to take our stand no matter what the heat of the pressure that may come”.
He called upon the NSCN members to exercise revolutionary responsibility to forbear any hardship which may come their way. “We must look forward and display fortitude to carry on with our struggle”, said a release by MIP.
