National Socialist Council of Nagalim or the NSCN (I-M) on Monday issued a clarification on January 10 media reports about the arrest of four of its cadres for alleged attempt to hijack a vehicle near the New Medziphema area on National Highway 29, and said that the incident had nothing to do with vehicle hijack attempt as stated by Nagaland state police press release.
A release by the Ministry of Information and Publicity of NSCN (I-M) said that there are “dark shadows” that loom over the NH-29 and those are the people involved in illicit drug and arms business.
The NSCN (I-M) said that as per their intelligence sources one particular party “inimical” to Naga interest was entering Dimapur with illicit drugs and other illegal items. Those four NSCN (I-M) cadres were dispatched to identify and deal with them (the party) accordingly, it added.
However it is a matter of regret that the police developed a misconceived notion that the NSCN (I-M) members were attempting to hijack the SUV vehicle, said the Naga group currently holding a peace talk with the government of India.
“What transpired between the police and the SUV occupants by setting them free after focusing their attention on NSCN (I-M) cadres? This is a serious question the police should come out with the answer,” NSCN (I-M) asserted.
