NPF to kick-start Manipur election campaign from February 16

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio had also been invited to campaign for NPF candidates in Manipur and he has agreed to do the same in principle and after due consultation with his party leaders.

Naga People’s Front (NPF) will kick-start campaigning for its candidates who are contesting in the Manipur Assembly Election 2022 from February 16 onwards. The campaign will start from Senapati and the same is likely to be led by party bigwigs from Nagaland.

This was disclosed by the newly appointed United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chairman and former chief minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang. Zeliang said that Nagaland chief minister and ‘Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) party leader Neiphiu Rio had been invited to campaign for NPF candidates in Manipur. He said that Rio has agreed in principle to campaign for NPF candidates on Manipur and was already consulting NDPP senior leaders about the issue.

TR Zeliang has also maintained that all the elected 60 members of the Nagaland Legislative
Assembly (NLA) came together and formed the “opposition-less” government in the State as a “sign of unity” which would give a push towards finding a final solution to the protracted Naga Political problem.  He said that all the elected members were “happy” and expressed hope that their coming would give the “last push” to the Naga political solution.

Meanwhile, with the induction of NPF legislator YM Yollow, as a cabinet minister into the Nephiu Rio’s led government in Nagaland on Wednesday, a veteran politician of the state, Chingwang Konyak, from Mon district has also been added to another list as an advisor to the chief minister, which the rank holding the status of a cabinet minister.
Earlier on February 9, Nagaland Governor, Prof Jagdish Mukhi had administered the oath of office and secrecy to Yollow, who has been allocated the Environment, Forest and Climate Change portfolio, along with NDPP MLAs—H Chuba Chang and S Keoshu appointed as advisors of Justice and Law and SCERT, and Village Guard, and Information and Public Relations respectively.
