General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railways, Anshul Gupta, on Thursday disclosed that the Railways are doing its best to “connect” and “bring trade” to the Nagaland capital, Kohima. He mentioned this on the sidelines of the “Cultural Connect” event held at Kisama, Nagaland.
Expressing hope that in the next few years the railways would reach Kohima, which would eventually help the tourist (s) from different parts of the country reach this destination, Gupta also said that once the railways reach the State capital, it would also boost the economy of the State as well as create job opportunities for the unemployed youth.
He shared that the wish and the desire of the railways were to invest not only in the railways but also to facilitate in providing world-class “medical and cultural” facilities which according to him would be run by the people of the State.
The NFR chief further added that the railway route from the commercial hub of Nagaland, Dimapur, to the State capital, Kohima, consists of seven to eight stations where they could display the templates of the vibrant culture and heritage of each tribe of Nagaland for which, he requested the State government that the architecture and design aspects should be of particular tribes of the Nagaland.
