Political parties in Nagaland have earlier stated that they are coming together to resolve the protracted Naga political issue. In August last, the NDPP, BJP and NPF had resolved that Nagaland United Government (NUG) will facilitate the finding of a solution to the Naga political issue.

A meeting of the legislators and party leaders of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Naga People’s Front (NPF) including independent MLAs has unanimously resolved to adopt the nomenclature United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for the ‘opposition-less’ government in Nagaland. The resolution was taken during a meeting on Saturday at the State Banquet Hall, Kohima.
According to sources, the meeting not only discussed state issues but also national politics and chief minister Neiphiu Rio’s recent meeting with BJP leaders to Delhi. The meet was aimed at bringing everyone together. It may be mentioned that earlier the alliance formation was known as Nagaland United Government.
The meeting unanimously resolved to reiterate the joint resolution by the three parties which was signed on August 11 and 13, 2021, respectively.
The resolution of Saturday’s meeting will be communicated to the State Assembly speaker in the next few days. “The political parties had formed the opposition-less government on the pretext of the Naga political issue,” the minister of planning and coordination, land revenue and parliamentary affairs Neiba Kronu said.
He also informed that the works of the parliamentary panel which comprises all legislators and both the two members of the parliament on the Naga issue was “very serious.” The primary role of the parliamentary party was to actively facilitate and expedite an inclusive, acceptable and honourable solution to the Naga political Issue.
