Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Monday reproduced three crucial points out of the 5-point resolution being adopted during its PCC executive committee meeting held on July 30 in Kohima in order to spell out its stand before the people of “Nagaland and the nation”.

The NPCC through its communication department stated that on the Naga political issue and the impending final settlement, the state government despite all its supposed concern and enthusiasm with other political parties in the state has not even bothered to consult NPCC despite the fact that Indian National Congress remains the main opposition party in Parliament and that Congress, therefore, cannot be faulted if the final outcome disappoints the aspirations of the people.

Stating that the rise of communal politics has created massive unrest across the nation with the idea of secularism and liberal democracy constantly under attack, with an objective to provide a “large tent for those who choose to fight and defeat the divisive and communal forces”, NPCC also added that the house took a decision to invite all former party men and women to come home and re-strengthen Congress which remains the only viable alternative in the face of regional parties surrendering their regional pride and compromising their principles at the feet of Hindutva forces.

The house further reached a consensus to revoke all expulsion and suspension orders in the greater interest of the party and the people of Nagaland.

On Assam and Mizoram border issue, the NPCC Communication Department informed that the house has expressed its serious concern on the recent Assam – Mizoram border clashes and the continued confrontation for which it reminded the Union Government to take serious note of the volatile situation and also take urgent steps to de-escalate the situation.

Moreover, the economic blockade on Mizoram by different civil society organizations in Assam must be removed and adequate security be provided to ensure uninterrupted movement of essential commodities.

The house further urged upon the Government of Assam and Mizoram to settle the dispute amicably by understanding the context of political/administrative boundaries and traditional boundaries.
