The Mongkot Chepu Village Authority on Sunday clarified that the allegation made by NPF candidate of Ukhrul AC is in total contradiction of the polling situation witnessed at 44/10 Ukhrul AC polling station during the second phase voting on Saturday.
It may be mentioned that the NPF candidate had alleged KNA cadres of capturing votes in favour of INC candidate at Mongkot Chepu polling station.
Contrary to the allegation, Mongkot Chepu Village Authority secretary Thangsei Khongsai clarified that Mongkot Chepu polling station is unquestionably peaceful, free and fair, and no KNO/KNA cadres were involved in the polling process.
He also said that no untoward incident of any sort occurred on the polling day as every voter exercised their adult franchise without fear and intimidation from any quarters.
He further said that allegation of KNA cadres capturing votes for Congress candidate is just a fabrication to malign the image of the Congress candidate while adding that it is merely a dirty politicking played by the NPF candidate to entangle rival Congress candidate in a mesh of communal politics.
The village authority attested that no one in a sound mind would claim that KNA cadres worked for a Congress candidate in this election, he added.
