MLA Khashim Vashum reach out to Wungpam Raikhan, former NPF intending candidate of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency on Friday at Ukhrul Headquarters. The meeting was significant in that it took place two days after the issuance of NPF ticket.

MLA Khashim Vashum met Wungpam Raikhan, former NPF intending candidate of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency at the latter’s residence at Wino Bazaar, Ukhrul, two days after the issuance of NPF ticket at Kohima.
Wungpam Raikhan had taken voluntary retirement from Central Public Work Department (CPWD) to enter into electoral politics and was seeking NPF ticket. However, the Working Committee of the NPF meeting held on January 31, 2022 at the NPF Central Office, Kohima declared and awarded the ticket to Khashim Vashum, the incumbent MLA and was officially issued on February 2, 2022.
Speaking to this correspondent, Wungpam Raikhan stated that “I whole heartedly respect the decision of the Working Committee of NPF. I am not leaving NPF and will be vying for the NPF ticket in 2027.
MLA Khashim Vashum and Wungpam Raikhan met in private and nobody is privy to what was discussed. As per information given to this correspondent by the workers of Wungpam Raikhan, they are standing firm the principles of NPF.
Khashim Vashum shared that he was positive that he would come out victorious seeing the support from the community.
The private meeting seems to have mended any differences between the intending candidates of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency.
