Also known as Eid-ul-Adha, Festival of Sacrifice, Eid-Ul-Zuha or Bakra Eid commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice His beloved son Ismail as an act of obedience towards God.

The festival signifies the spirit of sacrifice rising above the narrow barriers of one’s ego and self-interest for the larger good of all. The festival also promotes tolerance, harmony and goodwill amongst different communities, she said.

“On this sacred occasion, let us forget our differences and usher in an era of peace and harmony in Manipur,” she added.

In his message, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh also greeted the people on the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Adha 2021.

Eid-ul-Zuha, the festival of sacrifice, falls on the Islamic month of Dhul Dhu al-Hijjah and it is celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety across the world. The festival marks the end of Hajj and commemorates the faith of Prophet Ibrahim and his devotion to Allah.
