As Manipur is getting some respite from Covid pandemic with test positivity rate remaining below 10 per cent for a couple of days, the state government is mulling to reopen educational institutions. The Commissioner of Education M Harekrishna on Thursday informed that the government is considering various modalities for opening of educational institutions in both schools and colleges in the near future.
Harekrishna, in a letter to heads of departments concerned, said the improving Covid scenario in the state is likely to result in opening of the educational institutions. While the government is contemplating various modalities for opening the same, it is also imperative that it is done after taking into consideration all the safety measures that are required to be taken up prior to the opening.
He further said, ”Amongst various measures, vaccination of all teaching and non-teaching staff (preferably in two doses) may also be considered to ensure safety in schools/colleges and you are requested to impress upon both teaching and non-teaching staff under your respective department for vaccination at the earliest, if not yet done.”
“A detailed report on the level of vaccination in each school/college may please be submitted at the earliest, preferably district wise,” he added.
