The Manipur Government on Monday announced that due to the surge in COVID-19 across the state and declaration of offices and government establishments as containment zones, the state government had not been able to notify the ADC election as agreed upon between the state government and All Tribal Student Union Manipur (ATSUM).

A release by additional chief secretary (TA&H), Government of Manipur Letkhogen Haokip stated that an agreement dated April 7, 2021 was arrived between the Government of Manipur and ATSUM, that the state government will announce the election of ADC on or before May 5, 2021 so that the ADC election is completed by June 25, 2021.

“However, the government is earnestly initiating necessary procedures for holding the ADC election as early as possible,” it assured.

It may be mentioned that ATSUM has been spearheading the demand for the Autonomous District Council (ADC) election since last year.
