Poll related violent incidents continue to be reported even after the conclusion of both the phases of voting to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, 2022.

On Monday evening, suspected cadres of NSCN (I-M) allegedly beat up two supporters of the Congress candidate for 44-Ukhrul (ST) assembly constituency at Lamlang Village. The incident happened at around 7 pm.

The two victims have been identified as Whig and Graceson.

Irate villagers chased away the suspected NSCN (I-M) cadres, who came in two SUVs (Gypsy). One SUV belonging to the miscreants was burnt down by the villagers near Lamlang dispensary, while the other got away.

It may be mentioned that a polling station – 44/45- Ukhrul (E-2) of 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC – and six others are voting again on Tuesday in a repoll.

Ukhrul AC went to poll on Saturday, in which the incumbent MLA Alfred Kanngam S. Arthur of the Indian National Congress, Ram Muivah of the Naga People’s Front, and Somatai Shaiza of the Bharatiya Janata Party are contesting.
