As many as 11,976 canes of beer and 1,400 bottles of whiskey were seized from a truck plying along NH 37.

Jiribam district police on Thursday seized a large consignment of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) while checking along National Highway 37.
As many as 11,976 canes of beer and 1,400 bottles of whiskey were seized from a truck driven by one Khundrakpam Bobo Singh (30 yrs) s/o Kh. Tomba Singh of Moidangpok, Imphal West. The truck was stopped at Leingangpokpi village area and checked by the police.
The liquor was seized when the Narcotic Cell, Jiribam District police conducted normal frisking and checking of the vehicles along NH 37 in connection with the upcoming state Assembly Election, 2022 and New Year eve, according to police.
The approximate value of the seized items is Rs. 20 lakhs as per the market price in Assam state.
