Hundreds throng health mela held in Ukhrul

On the occasion, chief guest Lorho S Pfoze, MP (Outer Parliament) remarked that “to develop Ukhrul, we have to employ ideas from outside, use modern technology, seek experts opinion and other resources so as to develop ourselves. We have to take inputs from outside so as to scale up our products with good quality.”

As part of 100 action points for first 100 days, Block Health Mela was held on Monday at Mission Ground, Alungtang, Ukhrul. Organised by District Health Society Ukhrul, the programme was attended by MP (Outer Parliament) Lorho S Pfoze, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar and President of Tangkhul Shanao Long, Thingreiphy Lungharwoshi as chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively

MP of Outer Parliament, Manipur Lorho S Pfoze stated “with the installation of new government in Manipur and under the initiative of chief minister N Biren Singh, as part of the 100 days achievement, this Health Mela is being organised today for availing health benefits to the public.

While opening the Health Mela and interacting with the health department, Lorho S Pfoze also enquired about the vaccine hesitancy among the people of Ukhrul due to negative campaign and urged the medical personnel to spread the truth so as to overcome the negative campaign. He also took the time to expressed heartfelt gratitude to the populace of Ukhrul for electing 3 NPF MLAs in the recently concluded Manipur State Assembly Election 2022.

Lorho S Pfoze remarked that “to develop Ukhrul, we have to employ ideas from outside, use modern technology, seek experts opinion and other resources so as to develop ourselves. We have to take inputs from outside so as to scale up our products with good quality. We must not forget that everyone should involved to popularize our indigenous products. Let us also seek whatever assistance available from the Central Government to make Ukhrul an enterprising District.I have given proposal for establishment of passport office at Ukhrul, Senapati and Churachandpur. There are many areas where we need to develop and the onus lies on the people. Our demand should be driven by the need of the people. We need to upgrade the existing hospital in the hill districts with better facilities.” He also stressed the need to have a Convention Hall where public can have a peaceful meeting without the disturbance of rain or blazing sun.

President of TSL Thingreiphy Lungharwoshi remarked that “Health service has always been our concern.” I gave my utmost respect to District Health Society for organising today’s Health Mela. She also emphasised that “Ukhrul District is suitable for Health Tourism because we have the require resources. The air, the water, the environment, the organic food and the hospitality of the people of Ukhrul District is indeed suitable for promotion of such tourism.”

CMO of Ukhrul Kapangring A Shimray informed that various booths are open for enrollment for PMJAY and CMHT, registration of birth and death certificate, doctor consultation room, national mental health programme, cheif minister health for all (CMHA), free test for TB, dental check up, vaccination and immunization of Covid-19 and RI, free drug dispensing, nutrition and IEC booth, registration for organs and blood donate etc. He encourage the people of Ukhrul to come forward and avail the facilities.

Hundreds of people from every nook and corner of Ukhrul District came and attended the health mela. Yoga demonstration was presented by N Shatarjit Singh (naturopathy and yoga) and team.
