Four test positive during random mass testing in Kpi

Among 99 persons tested, two women both hotel shopkeeper and one owner of a chicken centre were found infected with the dreaded COVID-19. And in another drive, one individual from Damdei test centre was found positive.

Four persons were detected COVID positive during a random mass testing conducted at different places in Kangpokpi District on Thursday.

COVID Task Force Kangpokpi in collaboration with the Mobile Testing Team of District Hospital Kangpokpi and police personnel of Kangpokpi police station conducted another random mass testing especially vegetable vendors, shopkeepers and pharmacists in the town.

Among 99 persons tested, two women, both hotel shopkeeper, and one owner of a chicken centre were found infected with the dreaded COVID-19.

Volunteers of COVID Task Force Kangpokpi and personnel of Kangpokpi police station led by Inspector Henminthang Kipgen and II OC Lamminthang Vaiphei ferried the shopkeepers, pharmacists and vegetable vendors with the police vehicle while the mobile testing team of District Hospital Kangpokpi conducted RAT test at District Hospital Kangpokpi.

After verifying the residences of the three positive persons, the two women were found to be eligible for home isolation while the chicken centre owner was evacuated at the Community Home Isolation Centre at BJP Office since his residence is not eligible for home isolation.

Haolet Khongsai, Chairman, COVID Task Force Kangpokpi said that random mass testing will continue in the town to sanitize the public for the safety of the town and the denizens.

Meanwhile, Kangpokpi District CSO COVID Task Force along with police personnel of Gamnom- Saparmeina police station led by Inspector JK Haokip and a medical team led by Dr. Jamlal Haokip, Medical Officer, PHC Saitu-Gamphazol also conducted a mass testing drive to the street vendors of Mongpijang, Charhajare, Damdei and Gamgiphai.

More than hundred persons were tested during the drive and one individual from Damdei test centre was found positive.

The District CSO Task Force dropped the COVID patient at his residence and sealed his residence in the presence of the village authority.

Thangtinlen Haokip, Secretary Kangpokpi District CSO COVID Task Force said that the mass testing drive was conducted in compliance with the Government order under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

He appealed to the general public to strictly adhere to the COVID appropriate behavior and compulsory go for vaccination and also get tested in case of any symptom at the earliest as early detection increases the chances of recovery.

Meanwhile, reminding the state Government of the discussion in the recently held District review meeting, Thangminlen Kipgen, Chairman of Kpi CSO COVID Task Force urged the state Government to kindly provide an ambulance for Twilang area under T.Waichong Sub Division while appealing to the concerned MLA Kayisii to look into the matter urgently.

The COVID Task Force also reminded the state Government to procure a 10KV Generator for the provision of an interrupted power supply at the District COVID Care Centre.

Meanwhile, with 13 positive detected and 7 cured discharged, the active case of Kangpokpi stands at 92.
