Four suspected Kuki militants were killed in a gun battle at Hingojang village in Phailengmol Island block in Kangpokpi district Manipur around 9.30 am on Sunday, sources said.
Confirming the news, PRO Defence said personnel of Assam Rifle and Indian Army’s Spear Corps launched a joint operation Hingojang on Saturday and cordoned off the area. The gun battle broke out in the morning. Four bodies of heavily armed suspected KNLA cadres were recovered later.
The operation is in progress, it added.
“Troops of @official_dgar under @Spearcorps launched operation on 09 Oct in Hingojang, Manipur. Area cordoned & firefight started in the morning of 10 Oct. 4 insurgents neutralised. Op in progress,details awaited,” Indian Army’s III Corps .
According to a reliable source, a team of Thoubal Dam Police station led by the OC rushed to the spot to retrieve the bodies, sources added. The deceased were identified as Paotinthang Kipgen B.Gamnom village, Ngamjapao Khongsai of B.Gamnom village, Thangkholun Gangte of Laizon veng Churachanpur and Lamminthang Haokip of Songpijang village Churachanpur, added the source.
