DMUTA says no bifurcation sans their absorption in DMU

Dhanamanjuri University Teachers’ Association (DMUTA) on Saturday decided “to abstain from exercising the option of absorption in Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) in an emergency meeting held at Central Hall of D.M. College of Science to discuss the Manipur government’s July 7 notice.

The Directorate of University and Higher Education of the Manipur Government had on July 7 issued the notice to the teachers serving in all the Government Colleges of Manipur, including constituent colleges of Dhanamanjuri University that they may submit option to this office on whether they liked to be absorbed in DMU through the Principals of their respective colleges on or before July 20.

The notice followed the Department of Higher and technical Education’s June 16 letter on the bifurcation of teaching and non- teaching staff of the five constituent colleges of DMU from the administrative control of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Manipur.

In a statement signed by its Convenor General Dr K. Anthony Singh, DMUTA said after due deliberations and thorough discussions, all the members present unanimously resolved that all the teachers of the five constituent colleges of DMU shall abstain from exercising the option of absorption as per the Notification dated the 7 July, 2022.

They also resolved that all the existing teachers of the five constituent colleges of DMU, including the utilised teachers and the Principals, should be compulsorily absorbed by a single order as faculty of DMU and Principals accordingly in DMU with effect from the date of inception of DMU or the date of utilization as the case may be, with fall protection of pay, service and continuity of pensionable services upto retirement.

Setting 20 July, 2022 as deadline for issuance of absorption order by the competent authority, DMUTA said failure of which will compel it to launch agitations, such as abstention from all academic activities related to DMU etc.

It warned that no new recruitment nor any absorption from other colleges shall be done pending issuance of the order.

“Victimization of any teacher of the constituent colleges (including the Principals and utilized teachers) in the form of transfer or intimidation or repatriation shall be collectively dealt with by the teaching fraternity of the constituent colleges,” it added.
