The teachers have been observing a series of agitations demanding the DMU authority to settle the case of the absorption of the existing teachers of the constituent colleges before any process for fresh recruitment.

After a marathon meeting with vice-chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University and later with the chief minister on Monday, the Ad hoc Committee of the constituent colleges of the university temporarily called off their agitation.
A team of the Ad hoc Committee met DMU vice-chancellor M. Harekrishna, IAS and registrar of Dr. Nivedita Lairenlakpam, IAS in V-C’s office chamber at 10 am. They had a thorough discussion on the issue of the absorption of the existing teachers of the constituent colleges and other related matters of DMU, said Dr K. Anthony Singh, co-convenor of the ad hoc committee.
“We took the opportunity to reiterate our demands and present our views in a better perspective. Our VC also assured us that everything possible will be done to address the genuine concerns of the existing teachers, including utilised teachers, of the constituent colleges,” he added.
Later in the evening, they also had a meeting with chief minister N Biren Singh in his office chamber. The meeting was attended by education minister S Rajen Singh and the V-C of DMU. “The Chief Minister was kind enough to understand the plight and demands of the teachers,” said Dr K Anthony Singh in a press statement.
He patiently listened to the demands of the teachers and assured the teachers that the rightful demands of the teachers will be taken care of. The education minister was also sympathetic enough to see the rightfulness of the demands of the teachers, he added.
“It was a fruitful discussion. All the members of the Ad hoc Committee present in the meeting expressed indebtness to the chief minister, the education minister, the V-C and registrar of DMU for their kind and gracious gesture towards the teachers,” he added.
“In honour of the assurance given by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, the Ad hoc Committee of the constituent colleges of DMU has decided to temporarily suspend the current series of agitation and resume normal duties from January 12, 2021,” he further said.
Meanwhile, the chief minister tweeted that he had a fruitful meeting with representatives of the agitating teachers of Adhoc Committee of the Constituent Colleges of Dhanamanjuri University, Manipur, in the presence of Minister Education Shri S.Rajen Singh, and Commissioner, Higher Education, at his office.
The Ad hoc committee has been observing a series of agitations by abstaining from online and offline classes of both UG and PG classes and staging sit-in protests against the failure of the concerned authority to fulfil their demands.
