DIG SHQ BSF Manipur visits Braveheart Martyr BSF SI Paotinsat Guite

Paotinsat Guite was born in the family of Tongjang Guite and Veinem Guite of Maphou Kuki Village, Kangpokpi district on 26 Oct 1994.  He was awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously on the occasion of 76th Independence Day in recognition of his extreme sacrifice to the nation.

Sh. Dinesh Singh Rawat, DIG SHQ BSF CI (OPS), Manipur along with Sh Sonam Chhering, Comdt 29 Bn BSF and BSF officials on Sunday (21 August 2022) paid a homage visit to the family members of Martyr SI Paotinsat Guite, who was awarded Kirti Chakra (posthumous) in recognition of his extreme sacrifice to the nation, an official said.

During the visit, the Sector DIG interacts with his wife, parents, other family members and few villagers of village Maphou Kub Kangpokpi and informed the initiatives and welfares measures/ schemes undertaken by Border Security Force, Government of India and state of Manipur in remembrance of Medal awardees, the official added.

According to an official statement, Paotinsat Guite was born in the family of Tongjang Guite and Veinem Guite of Maphou Kuki Village, Kangpokpi district on 26 Oct 1994. He completed his graduation from DM College of Arts in the year 2015.

In his quest to serve the nation, he joined the prestigious Border Security Force and graduated from BSF Academy Tekanpur, Gwalior on 9th March 2019 and joined 59 BN BSF Rajouri on 9 April 2019. He was posted at a post called 3 Bump Forward Post as a platoon commander. During his service in the Battalion, as a determined soldier, he served the nation with utmost devotion and dedication. The braveheart along with seven comrades laid ambush in an area called Damakush Bowl to ensure safe movement of our troops from the enemy.

On the fateful day of 1st Dec 2020, the Ambush Party led by brave heart Late St Paotinsat Guite came under attack from Pakistan Army from close vicinity which was trying to infiltrate/ push terrorists into Indian Soil.

The statement further said despite heavy gun fire, the brave heart and his team retaliated against the enemy with great valour, displaying heroic patriotism till his last breath. He saved the lives of his fellow comrades who were fighting the enemy along with him and foiled the enemy attempts of infiltration. During the heavy exchange of fire, he was hit by an enemy’s bullet and laid down his life for the nation without a hint of remorse or regret, it added.

In recognition of his extreme valour, exemplary determination and selflessness in the face of imminent threat and danger, Late Paotinsat Guite was befittingly awarded gallantry Indian military decoration “Kirti Chakra” posthumously on the auspicious the 76th Independence Day Celebrations-2022.  “His sacrifice is indeed priceless and will go down in the history of our Nation. He made the whole Nation and people of Manipur proud,” said the statement.
