JTSA, an apex student body of the All Inpui Students’ Union (AISU); Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR); Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) and Zeme Students’ Organisation Manipur (ZSOM), vehemently condemned the inhumane and brutal killing of Late Athuan Abonmai.
“While condemning the brutal killing of our peculiar tribal leader, ringing together the bell for justice by every soul, it is unwelcoming and unfortunate to learn & we would term the intention of demanding the resignation of Hon’ble Chief Minister Manipur, suspension of Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong and Superintendent of Police Tamenglong by some organisations as unreasonable, immature, unfounded, improper and is unacceptable,” JTSA said in a release on Friday.
The JTSA said that the September 22 unfortunate incident had torn the hearts and drained the tears of peace loving people of the state. Nation knows the untimely demise of Athuan Abonmai is horrific, inhumane beyond the expression of words.
The JTSA also appealed to the government and like-minded CSOs to leave aside every individual, group and political interests and ideologies, and assist to expedite for early honorable performing of last rites on humanitarian ground as per the customs for peaceful and eternal rest of the departed soul.
The student body also showed appreciation to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India and Govt. of Manipur for conferring NIA to investigate Athuan Abonmai’s case.
“We believe, proper investigation would be done and at the same time, befitting action would be taken against the culprits”.
Stating that Athuan Abonmai is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter and elderly parents, and as the breadwinner is no more, JTSA appealed to the state government to provide adequate ex-gratia and suitable government job for the bereaved family on humanitarian ground.
“Love, Harmony and Peace should be given a chance like we witnessed for so long under the present administration of the state. The State Government had always prioritise the interest of the people, henceforth, appeal and anticipate to continuously hold on till the end to every peoples minded policy, not succumbing to any ill intention of few self vested interests groups & individuals who works without the mandate of the peoples to disrupt the unity and peaceful atmosphere of the state”.
The JTSA also appealed to work sincerely bridging every gap of misunderstanding and confusion to live in peace; allow the law of the land to govern, take its own course of action for lasting peace, easy and early delivery of justice to victims of every inhumane and barbaric act without bias.
