In a message, CPI(M) Manipur said that the party and the peasant movement has suffered a huge loss in the passing away of Comrade Thoudam Komol.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) Manipur expressed condolences on the demise of Comrade Thoudam Komol, a veteran communist and peasant leader of Manipur. He passed away on Tuesday at the age of 78 due to COVID-19 related complications.
He was a secretariat member of CPI(M) Manipur State Committee, secretary of Manipur Loumee Marup (AIKS) and All India Kisan Council during the 1990s and 2000s.
In a message, CPI(M) Manipur said that the party and the peasant movement has suffered a huge loss in the passing away of Comrade Thoudam Komol. The Manipur State Secretariat of CPI(M) paid its respectful homage, dips its Red Flag in memory of the departed leader and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
Comrade Thoudam Komol joined the communist party in 1966 as a youth leader of his Khundrakpam village. During his 55 years of party life , he dedicated himself for the cause of the peasants, downtrodden masses and rural Manipur.
The CPI (M) said that his political and social works endeared him to the masses. After serving a long stint as a government teacher he contested general elections to the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Khundrakpam constituency in 1995 and 2002 as a CPI(M) candidate.
