Khashim Vashum in his speech expressed gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Ukhrul and Kamjong for their service. He categorically remarked that non-local doctors and nurses had been taking care of the people of Ukhrul and Kamjong as their own people. He also expressed gratitude to District Administration led by Joseph Pauline Kamson for the sleepless night they had shouldered in the fight against COVID-19. Khashim Vashum also lauded the service of Ukhrul police led by SP Worngam Ningshen in implementing the SOP dutifully. He also expressed gratitude to Tangkhul CSOs, TCFC and mission workers for their logistic and prayer support.

Joseph Pauline Kamsom stated, “Our fight against COVID-19 right from March 24 2020 has been entrusted in the hands of God. Since there was no cure during that time, we all pinned our hope in the hands of Almighty God. We have the largest returnees numbering 9624 and a recorded two deaths.

With the strong backing of all the stakeholders, we unitedly fought the war against COVID-19 and today we can proudly say that we have managed to contain the spread of COVID-19 through discipline and cooperation. There could have been more fatalities or cases had not the two MLAs taken extreme initiative and pro-active involvement in tackling the ground situation. There should not be any apprehension, since it has been tested and tried.”

After getting inoculated, Dr Kapangring A Shimray stated that COVID-19 vaccination is safe. “On January 8, 2021, we conducted the rehearsal. The first round will begin today and after a 28 days gap, the second round will be administered with the same dose of Covishield again. 100 medical workers were listed for vaccination today. Covishield has passed the third phase of human test. It has to be administered to 18 years above, no pregnant women or lactating mothers should be vaccinated,” he added.
