Chingai Assembly Constituency MLA Khashim Vashum visited 45-Chingai Assembly Segment Covid Enforcement Committee of Raphei Area on Friday. During the second wave lockdown, the concerned MLA visited more than 60 villages under his constituency.
The MLA was accompanied by Chingai SDO S Lunguiba, former executive members of Ukhrul ADC, Paothing Vashum and Lawrence Tuizar.
The team visited and interacted with the members of Covid Enforcement Committee of Halang, Phungcham, Varangalai, Paorei and Peh. MLA Khashim Vashum also distributed face masks, hand sanitizers, snacks, fruits and cash to the respective Village Enforcement Committee.
Khashim Vashum stated that “It is time to leave our habits of smoking and drinking and indulgence of other intoxicants because the COVID-19 disease is more severe to people with such backgrounds”. He added that “during the first wave, our people have been praying for a COVID-19 vaccine, after much research works, the vaccine is finally available at our doorstep with great effort from the government, but our people are reluctant now to go for vaccination. It is a personal choice, but I appeal to our people to take COVID-19 vaccination at the earliest”.
MLA Khashim Vashum implored the churches and village authorities to come forward and extend maximum cooperation to tackle the pandemic. “This is no time to play party politics, we should all come together as one to fight the virus and make our place a COVID-19-free village,” added Khashim Vashum.
He assured the villagers that all possible help will be extended from his side and appealed to the village leaders to come forward in sharing their problems for immediate attention and necessary follow up action, so as to detect and medicate at the earliest.
Chingai SDO S Lunguiba who is also the convenor of 45-Chingai Assembly Segment Covid Awareness cum Enforcement Committee elaborated on the SOPs and guidelines issued by the concerned authority and appealed the Village Committee to strictly enforce the same.
Village Enforcement Committee of Halang, Phungcham, Varangalai, Paorei and Peh expressed gratitude to the MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency for taking out his time in visiting their village and constantly monitoring and keeping in touch with the Village Enforcement Committee.
