COVID-19: Manipur reports highest single day spike, state positivity dips to 16.14 percent

For the second day in a row, all the 16 districts of the state reported positive cases.

As the number of samples testing for COVID-19 increases, the number of positive cases have also increased in Manipur. Out of the 6,393 results received on Sunday, 1,032 were tested positive, making it the highest single day spike of the state. The state positivity rate of the day slumped to 16.14 percent from Saturday’s 20.55 percent. 

According to the Health Department, in the last 24 hours ending 5 pm Sunday, 17 persons died at Shija Hospital (1), Babina (1), DH Churachandpur (5), DH Ukhrul (1), Raj Medicity (2), JNIMS (4), and RIMS (3) hospital — five each from Imphal East and Churachandpur, four from Imphal West, two from Kakching, and one from Ukhrul. 

For the second day in a row, all the 16 districts of the state reported positive cases — 310 positive cases from the general population were from Imphal West, 281 from Imphal East, 100 from Churachandpur, 95 from Thoubal, 78 from Bishnupur, 46 from Tamenglong, 36 from Kakching, 25 from Jiribam, 18 from Senapati, 11 from Tengnoupal, 10 from Ukhrul, nine from Kamjong, five from Chandel, and one each from Kangpokpi, Noney and Pherzawl. 

The positive persons were tested at — RIMS (50). JNIMS (163), District Hospitals (454), and other private testing centres (365).

Active cases in the state have surged to 8,482. Out of this 4,705 are in home isolation at present. 

563 persons were discharged during the period  from — CAPF (10), Home Isolation (414), RIMS (14), JNIMS (7), BB (6), NSU (10), SHRI (11), LANVA (16), CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong (35), Jivan Hospital (3), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (5), Kangpokpi (3), Churachandpur (8), Chandel (1), Ukhrul (12), and Tengnoupal (4). The recovery rate now stands at 81.40 percent. 

The total infection of the state has reached 49,882 and 793 total deaths. 

Oxygen Status

As per the Health Department, in the last 24 hours, a total of 1875 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 512 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur. District Hospitals and Government institutions have 352 D and 78 B type filled cylinders; out of these —
