The past one week proved to be the deadliest week for Manipur of the pandemic, as 110 lives were claimed by COVID-19 between May 17 and 23.

As Manipur reels under the devastating second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the sight of the curve flattening in the state seems far away. Just a day after the state reported the highest single day spike, it was topped on Sunday with 767 fresh cases and 14 deaths.
Active cases in the state surged to 6,534. Out of these 4,417 active cases are in home isolation.
Meanwhile, the past one week proved to be the deadliest week for Manipur of the pandemic, as 110 lives were claimed by COVID-19 between May 17 and 23.
As many as 4,360 cases were detected in the past one week. Except on May 17, with 330 new cases, the remaining days reported fresh cases above 500. The average state positivity rate of the week stood at 19.7 percent.
Of the 767 fresh cases on Sunday, 320 were reported from Imphal West, 182 from Imphal East, 71 from Churachandpur, 50 from Thoubal, 44 from Kakching, 38 from Bishnupur, 17 from Ukhrul, 13 from Senapati, nine each from Kangpokpi and Tamenglong, five from Jiribam, three from Kamjong, and two from Noney.
Six persons from Imphal West, three from Imphal East, two from Churachandpur and one each from Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal died in the last 24 hours ending 5 pm Sunday. They expired at DH Churachandpur (2), Shija Hospital (2), DH Thoubal (1), RIMS (4) and JNIMS (5) hospital, according to the Health Department.
609 persons were discharged during the period, from — CAPF (42), Home Isolation (466), RIMS (8), JNIMS (4), RD Wing (3), LANVA (5), BB (10), NSU (7), SHRI (15), CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong (19), Jivan Hospital (2), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (4), Chandel (1), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (3), and Jiribam (2). The recovery rate stands at 83.61 %.
The total infection of the state has reached 44,089 and 688 total deaths.
As per the latest information, 3,45,615 individuals have been vaccinated in the state, of which 79,773 have received the second dose. 9,033 persons between the age of 18 and 44 years have been vaccinated so far.
Oxygen Status
According to the Health Department, in the last 24 hours, a total of 1293 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 542 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur. District Hospital and government institutions of the state have 126D and 61B type filled cylinders:
