COVID situation in Manipur seems to be worsening day by day as the state reported the highest single day spike with 666 fresh cases, a day after the state had the highest single day death toll. The dreaded virus claimed 17 more lives on Wednesday, taking the death toll of the state to 526.
Active cases have surged to 5,272 (General Population – 5,099 and Central Security Personnel – 173). Out of these, 3,128 active cases are in home isolation.
In the past twenty-four hours ending 5 pm Wednesday, 659 persons (364 male and 295 female) from the general population and seven personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases, out of the 3,520 test results received, according to the Health Department. The state positivity now stands at 18.92 percent.
A bulk of the new cases is from Imphal West (252) and Imphal East (171). The other positive cases from the general population are from Kakching (60), Bishnupur (48), Churachandpur (43), Thoubal (34), Ukhrul (15), Senapati (13), Noney (7), Kangpokpi (6), Tamenglong (4), Chandel (3), Kamjong (2), and Tengnoupal (1).
In the last 24 hours, 17 persons aged 57 yrs (female, Imphal West), 69 yrs (male, Imphal East), 67 yrs (male, Imphal East), 81 yrs (male, Churachandpur), 51 yrs (male, Churachandpur), 55 yrs (male, Thoubal), 64 yrs (male, Imphal East), 55 yrs (male, Imphal East), 56 yrs ( male, Imphal West), 54 yrs (male, Bishnupur), 58 yrs (male, Imphal East), 74 yrs (male, Imphal East), 67 yrs (female, Imphal East), 64 yrs (male, Kakching), 84 yrs (female, Imphal West), 76 yrs (female, Thoubal), and 65 yrs (male, Imphal East) expired at Shija Hospital (3), DH Churachandpur (2), DH Thoubal (1), Raj Medicity (1), RIMS (4) and JNIMS (6) hospital respectively.
As many as 358 persons were discharged from — CAPF (12), Home Isolation (269), RIMS (3), JNIMS (12), RD Wing (12), BB (9), SHRI (15), CCC Bishnupur (5), CCC Ukhrul (10), and CCC Churachandpur (11). The recovery rate is 84.34 %.
The state’s total infections now stand at 37,036 (General Population 33,361 and Central Security Personnel – 3,675).
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1068 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 407 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur, according to the Health Department.
Meanwhile, India reported 3.48 lakh new COVID-19 cases and 4,205 deaths in the last 24 hours ending 8 am Wednesday, as per Union Health Ministry. 3.55 lakh patients were discharged during the period.
The active cases now stand at 37.04 lakhs. The number of the total infections in the country has reached 2.33 crore and 2.54 lakhs deaths. 17.52 crore individuals have been vaccinated in the country.
