COVID-19 Manipur: 15 more die, daily positivity rate dips to 6.96 per cent

Though the number of new COVID-19 cases in Manipur have been declining for the last couple of days, deaths remain a major concern for the state. In the last 24 hours ending 5 pm Saturday, the State Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 15 more fatalities due to coronavirus.

Four individuals from Imphal West, three each from Imphal East and Thoubal, two each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur, and one from Kakching died at RIMS (1), JNIMS (2), Shija Hospital (4), Raj Medicity (2), CMC (1), Home Isolation (1), DH Thoubal (1), CCC Moreh (1) and DH Churachandpur (2). The death toll has now reached 959.

Out of 7,958 tests, 554 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of infections in the state to 59,322. The daily positivity rate has dipped to 6.96 per cent — the lowest since May 1, 2021.

The positive cases from the general population are — 171 from Imphal West, 118 from Imphal East, 73 from Thoubal, 54 from Churachandpur, 35 from Bishnupur, 21 from Jiribam, 19 from Kakching, 17 from Senapati, 14 from Chandel, 12 from Kangpokpi, 10 from Tengnoupal, seven from Tamenglong, two from Pherzawl, and one from Ukhrul.

On Saturday, 751 persons were discharged — 535 are from home isolation, 39 are from RIMS (28) and JNIMS (11) and the rest 177 are from other COVID care facilities, according to the Health Department. The recovery rate has slightly improved to 83.70 per cent.

Oxygen Status

As per the Health Department, in the last 24 hours, a total of 1454 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 434 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
