Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday slammed the BJP-led Manipur government and demanded to declare the results for the recruitment of 10th and 11st IRB before the announcement of the election code of conduct.

Addressing media persons at the Congress Bhawan, Imphal, MPCC general secretary (organisation) Loitongbam Tilotama said that the process for the controversial recruitment was taken up in the early part of 2019 after the then Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh gave the nod in 2018.

Even though 6,750 candidates cleared the written examination for the post of rifleman for 10th IRB and the viva was conducted the result has not been declared till date. The same goes for the 415 candidates for the post of jamandar for 11st IRB, she said.

Stating that the BJP led state government is crushing the dreams of the youths, Tilotama said that the career of some candidates hangs in balance as the age limit for applying in other government jobs have exceeded.

She further said that the recruitment process for IRB was also initiated in other Northeastern states like Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam. While the candidates of these states have started working, the fate of that in Manipur remains grim, she added.

Although chief minister N Biren Singh had assured that the recruitment process would be completed in a month, the words have not been translated into action even after two years, she said.
