In order to strengthen the basic health infrastructure of hill districts of Manipur, the Tribal Affairs and Hills Department of Manipur on May 15, 2021 has approved the installation of Oxygen plants and procurement of ambulances for the six hill districts.
The PSA Oxygen Generator will have the capacity of 200 cylinders per day with booster and filling station. One each will be installed at the six ADC at the cost of Rs 3,00,16,000 per plant and to be supplied and installed by Fama Marketing, Guwahati.
The state government has also sanctioned procurement of advanced life support (ALS) ambulance BSVI ABSD type with A/C, one each for the six ADC at a cost of Rs 40,19,179 inclusive of 28% GST, insurance and registration per ambulance. It has also sanctioned the procurement of two Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance BSVI ABS, certified by AIS125 B type with auto loading stretcher foldable legs at a cost of Rs. 17,90, 973 inclusive of 28% GST, insurance and registration. Union Enterprise, Thangmeiband, Imphal will supply six numbers of advanced life support ambulances and 12 numbers of basic life support ambulances to the six ADC.
The Chief Executive Officer of Autonomous District Council, Polly Makan, Additional District Magistrate, Kachamthai F Gangmei and Medical Superintendent of District Hospital, Dr. Reisangmi Raikhan on Tuesday inspected and selected the site for setting up of the Oxygen plant under 15th Finance Commission. The team inspected the site and selected within the premise of Ukhrul District Hospital, Hungpung for setting up the oxygen plant under 15th Finance Commission sanctioned to the six Autonomous District Councils.

She added that “ambulances shall be delivered within 35 days in relation to BLS and and 60 days for ALS from May 13, 2021 in view of the urgency to cope with COVID-19 pandemic”.
Ukhrul recorded 10 fresh positive cases on Tuesday. Cumulative positive stands at 222 with 121 active cases and four deaths.
