The blast left a small crater on the road, injuring the 4 shop keepers and one cart puller while they were busy closing their shops and returning for home.

At least five people were injured when an IED bomb exploded in Viewland Ukhrul town on Monday evening at around 6:25pm.
The explosion took place near Viewland Church on the eastern lane of the marketing area.
The blast left a small crater on the road, injuring the 4 shop keepers and one cart puller while they were busy closing their shops and returning for home.
The injured persons have been identified as:
1. Sanjay Uprety, 28 years from Kanglatonpi, who runs a garment shop at Viewland. He informed that “the bomb exploded when he was closing his shop.” He was injured in the left back and left leg but out of danger.
2. Sanjay Kumar, 30 years from Bihar, a cart puller was severely injured on the face and left eye. Doctor at District Hospital, Ukhrul, informed that he will be referred to Imphal for further treatment.
3. Satnarayan Gupta, 36 years from
Bihar, who runs a garment shop at Viewland, received injury on the right leg, right hand and left back. 2 pellets were removed from his body by the doctors at Ukhrul District Hospital.
4. Mangal Mahato, 50 years from Bihar, who runs a garment store at Viewland, received injury on left leg, left back and right chest. Doctors informed that he will be referred to Imphal for further treatment.
5. Arjun Dahl, 26 years from Leimakhong who runs a garment store at Viewland, received injury on the left leg. He is out of danger.
The injured persons were immediately rushed to District Hospital Ukhrul for treatment.
Following the reports of bomb explosion, the Ukhrul police led by SP of Ukhrul, Ningsem Vashum and 35 AR personnel led by Major Josephine rushed to spot.
It is yet to establish the motive behind the explosion, and no organization has claimed responsibility for the blast while filing this report.
