RIMS community has appealed to Justice of Sanaton Athokpam (JSA) not to agitate inside the premises of RIMS, Imphal.
Condemning the unwanted action of group of people on the campus, the RIMS community urged the JSA not to disturb the RIMS student community who are currently appearing their professional exams and also not to hamper the patient care services “which RIMS is giving for hundreds of sick patients during this COVID pandemic”.
A statement was issued in this regard after a joint meeting of members & representatives of Non-Teaching Employee Welfare Union (NTEWU), Contract Employee Welfare Association (CEWA), RIMS Nurses Association Lamphelpat (RNAL), RIMS Student’s Union (RIMSSU), Dental College Employees Welfare Association (DCEWA) on Tuesday. The meeting was held at RIMS to discuss matters relating to the unfortunate demise of (L) Sanaton Athokpam, a student of RIMS (5™ Semester MBBS).
In the meeting, the members expressed deep sorrow at the unfortunate loss of the student to the bereaved family.
In a press statement, the members said they were also aware that the JSA is currently engaged in bringing about justice in the matter.
Stating that RIMS is a temple of learning for many students of this nation, the statement said that the state government has already ordered a Magisterial Enquiry into the death of (L) Sanaton Athokpam to be conducted by the Addl. District Magistrate, Imphal West under Section 176 CrPC. “If anybody knows the truth, they should approach the inquiry team as per laws of the land,” it added.
Sharing the sorrow of the deceased family, the RIMS community prayed that God may give them strength to overcome the grief and sorrow.
