The proscribed PREPAK (Progressive) has marked its 50th Raising Day with a blistering press release accusing the Indian government of “state terrorism, economic manipulation, and collusion” with “Kuki terrorists” in Manipur, while calling on the Meitei community to prepare for a “people’s armed movement.”
In the release issued and signed by its chairman, Longjam Paliba M, the outfit paid “revolutionary salute” to those who sacrificed their lives “while safeguarding our motherland” and expressed grief for families affected by the ongoing conflict in the state. It also thanked “brave volunteers and women who are defending our motherland in these woeful days.”
The proscribed PREPAK (PRO) alleged that India is “standing in both” the BRICS and QUAD groupings “to ride two boats,” and accused New Delhi of acting as the “world’s teacher” while “forgetting that it had frequently waged wars with neighbouring countries.” The release claimed that the Indian armed forces have “armed illegal immigrant Kuki groups with sophisticated weapons and make them drug traffickers to fracture such a small Manipur state.”
The outfit further alleged that “Kuki terrorists, who openly claimed to break-up Manipur by killing the innocent indigenous civilians, are allowed to participate in the state government,” and accused the Manipur government of adopting a policy of “state terrorism that would gradually dismantle the state.” It claimed that India is “meticulously standing aside by letting the Manipur Government to provide the ground for disintegrating the state in the interest of Kuki-terrorists.”
The release also accused elected leaders from the valleys of being “cowardly and myopic,” alleging they have “already submitted their stands to the Centre” and have been “ordered to squeeze the activities of CSOs and to annihilate the village defenders if they don’t want PR to be imposed and to discontinue their MLA’s Status.”
Expressing concern over the plight of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the proscribed outfit stated that IDPs “cannot return to their own lands and their vast paddy fields are still unable to be cultivated,” and alleged that “many important parts of valleys are being forcibly buffered jointly by “IOF and Kuki-terrorists” to block free movements among indigenous communities.”
The outfit questioned the meaning of “Home Coming Celebration” events, asking: “If the IDPs are participating among those celebrations then what ‘home’ really mean for them when those who are considered as the very enemies are still occupying the homes and lands of IDPs.”
Urging the Meitei community to overcome what it described as “Akrasia” — a philosophical term for habitual weakness in willpower and self-control — the release called for preparation for a “people’s armed-movement by sharing and presenting our capabilities and possessions.” It warned that fighting “like before without any gain or not lasting long like proverbial ‘Straw Burns’ will not achieve the desired result.”
The outfit also lamented that “ethnically blood relationship personals in the police and security forces in India are not showing any sign of emotional support for the insurgency movement,” alleging they are “trying to end the movement.”
In a section titled “Headless-Tailless India,” the proscribed PREPAK (PRO) accused the BJP government of “manipulating economic data for showing a leap in GDP growth,” claiming that world economists are mocking India’s GDP as “Gross Domestic Propaganda.” It alleged that India is “a land of poverty with rich politicians” and accused the Election Commission of India of acting like a “commission agent for business transaction.”
Referring to the Pilong massacre, the release stated that the “so-called ‘Surgical Operation’ that brings victory for the BJP has been forgotten,” and questioned whether the Indian Armed Forces were “truly involved in the attack.”
