The proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) observed its 48th Foundation Day at multiple locations across the state, with participation from members, supporters, and sympathizers from both the hills and the valley.

In a statement, Mangal Khuman, Publicity Officer of the group’s Department of Publicity and Propaganda, expressed gratitude to the media for “publishing the message of the Interim Chairman on the occasion”.

According to the statement, observances were held at the Central Head Quarter (CHQ), General Head Quarter (GHQ), 707 Mobile Battalion, Base Areas 1 to 4, and various other tactical and mobile units.

The main event at the CHQ featured Interim Council Chairman Aheiba Angom as the Chief Guest. In his address, he has alleged that India’s geopolitical ambitions have disrupted Kangleipak’s social and political fabric. He claimed the present situation stems from continued “occupation and exploitation” and urged the people to unite to reclaim their rights. The Chairman alleged that deliberate attempts have been created to divide the people, “misleading those who fail to recognise this agenda.” He further highlighted challenges including prolonged unrest, the impact of Myanmar’s internal situation, and drug-related issues, calling for unity to restore Kangleipak as a self-reliant and independent nation.

A separate function at the GHQ was attended by the Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the group’s Red Army, Romi Meitei. The CAS inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial torch, followed by floral tributes to departed leaders and a “Revolutionary Gun Salute”.

He stated that PREPAK aims to build a strong and self-reliant revolutionary organisation and claimed the Red Army is dedicated to the “liberation struggle” and the welfare of Kangleipak’s people.

Similar observances were reported from other base areas, where leaders urged people to remain united and vigilant to achieve the set goal.

The group also claimed that several revolutionary groups from the WESEA region and international organisations conveyed messages of solidarity for the occasion.
