Creation of a dependent economy, side-lining people in governance, supporting oppressive regime that do not listen to appeals, breaching of traditional economy in the name of lopsided development triggered by people from outside are all the doings of a few in an effort to save the big oligarchy-monopolies, said the proscribed armed conglomerate.

Khongjom Day shines like a bright star on the pages of history and serves as a guide to those who have lost the way, said the proscribed CorCom while greeting the people on the occasion of Khongjom Day.
The story of Khongjom war depicts the valiant nature of the people of Manipur to the world at large, said the proscribe conglomeration of armed outfits.
According to a press release issued by Publicity Committee, (CorCom), it was not an easy war given the fact that the colonial British army were well equipped with modern weapons and that they were set against the handful of brave-hearts. People of the hills and valley of Manipur faced the war and sacrificed their lives in an act of protecting the sovereign status of Kangleipak, said CorCom.
“Khongjom war also epitomised the sacrificial spirit of the youth who could give up their lives for the motherland with a brave smile on their faces. The valiant warriors knew that the
War fought in 1891 would be against their favour. This war has given today’s generation the courage to fight for ushering in a free sovereign state. The warriors faced the might of the British Empire, an empire people believed where the sun never sets. Till the last breadth, the warriors thought of their motherland. This had taught the young generation the sacrificial spirit of our forefathers. The valiant warriors believed that it was better to live free for a moment than be enslaved for 100 years”, said CorCom.
CorCom claimed that “the people who fought the Khongjom war were not defending Bharat’s independence but to maintain the sovereign status of Kangleipak. However, puppets who are in class collaboration with the colonial rulers have polluted the flowing river of Khongjom and the land”.
After April 25, 1891, Kangleipak lost its sovereign status and since April 27, three columns seized the capital. Later, under the British government, Maxwell became the chief Political officer of Kangleipak under a repressive regime.
After the first Nupi Lal 1904, Jadonang movement after 1921, Irabot’s movement after 1935, second Nupi Lal in 1939, Bharat annexed Manipur since 1949. Later Irabot began an armed movement. Since then, the movement has been on against the “forcible occupation of Kangleipak”.
“Kangleipka is yet to retain its sovereign status. Under the guise of black laws, many had been killed, arrested and raped. The situation will continue as it is. Not satisfied with the game of divide and rule, there are efforts made to balkanize our land inhabited by many indigenous people. We will also be submerged by the unabated flow of outsiders under the accommodation of surplus population plan charted out by leaders”, alleged CorCom.
Creation of a dependent economy, side-lining people in governance, supporting oppressive regime that do not listen to appeals, breaching of traditional economy in the name of lopsided development triggered by people from outside are all the doings of a few in an effort to save the big oligarchy-monopolies, said the armed conglomerate.
CorCom argued that “the message conveyed by Khongjom war is – there is a necessity to wage a battle to make us independent. The struggle can be won only if we are united. We should note that it was disunity that brought us devastation for seven years in history and again it was disunity that made us face defeat in the Khongjom war. Therefore, there is a need to unite for collective strength. Differences between us led to annexation of Manipur”.
