Though NAC’s objective is targeted towards establishing cooperation in socio-political issues for promoting peace and development in Nagaland, it is in no way connected to NSCN in any manner, says NSCN (I-M).

A day after Naga-American Council (NAC) led by ‘honorary president’ of Nagalim Grace Collins issued a statement, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim or the NSCN (I-M) has unequivocally stated that the NAC’s comments and statements on Naga issue do not reflect the official policy and stand of NSCN/GPRN.
A release issued by NSCN (I-M)’s Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) said, “Though the organization’s objective is targeted towards establishing cooperation in socio-political issues for promoting peace and development in Nagaland, it is in no way connected to NSCN in any manner”.
NSCM (I-M) pointed out that Indo-Naga political issue is “recorded as one of the oldest political issues in the world. Naturally, it had drawn the attention and sympathy of many international organizations around the world. For the same reason, Washington D.C.-based Naga-American Council is one such organization that has shown keen interest on Indo-Naga affairs”.

MIP said that while the NSCN (I-M) appreciated NAC’s concern on the ongoing Indo-Naga political development, the latter’s comments and statements on Naga issue do not reflect the official policy and stand of the Naga armed group.
“Naga flag is the identity of Naga nationhood and doesn’t have different meaning as mentioned by Naga-American Council press statement. Such bewildering understanding of flag with respect to Naga flag is highly regretted”, said the MIP statement.
“We understand that Naga-American Council must have given their interpretation of flag from American context and not from Naga context. The August 3, 2015 Framework Agreement (FA) between the GoI and the NSCN/GPRN recognizes the Indo-Naga conflict as political”, added NSCN (I-M).
The outfit said it also acknowledged the unique history and position of the Nagas and the FA is signed on the cornerstone of sovereignty. “There is no ambiguity in the FA, therefore, in the Indo-Naga political agreement the GoI must honor and implement in letter and spirit the FA and recognize the Naga National flag and constitution”, said NSCN (I-M).
