An eleven-year old boy was drowned in Khoupum Dam, Noney District on Sunday afternoon while swimming with friends.
According to the police, the minor boy has been identified as Pouchuimei Riamei, son of Isaac Riamei of Duithanjang village under Khoupum Police Station, Noney District. The tragedy took place at around 3 pm in the afternoon.
Sources said that the victim and his friends were swimming in the dam when he was suddenly drowned at a location 20 feet deep. Immediately after the tragedy, local residents and police rushed to the spot. A team was on a search and rescue mission at the time of filing this report.
