The Rising People’s Party (RPP), Nagaland, would be undertaking a task of walking around some districts of Nagaland on the theme “A Walk to Save Nagaland.”

Through the walk, RPP in a press  note said that it wanted to highlight issues which had kept the state backward for too long and added that it is a walk against corruption, to save Nagaland from self-serving leaders, against AFSPA, against backdoor appointments that is killing the aspirations of the youth, to save Nagaland from the culture that sees politics as a money making machine, against the culture that refuses to empower women and youths, and against clan/village/tribe centric governance which is the root of all debauchery in Naga politics.

Apart from these issues, the RPP further added that it wants to share its vision, aims and objectives, and its thoughts with the common man for clean election, the promise of good governance by the RPP, to uphold the rule of law by the RPP, uphold law and order by the RPP, for a self-reliant economy, to educate people to elect Godly candidates in elections, to show solidarity to families of the Oting massacre, to highlight the danger of harbouring illegal immigrants in our land and a walk to protect Naga’s identity

Further the RPP stated that through the walk, the party wants to convey the message that the Rising People’s Party is the “only alternative” for the suffering public.

The event would also kick-start its campaign for the ensuing general assembly elections next year.

RPP said its members and well-wishers would begin the walk from Dimapur on February 21 covering different locations including Dimapur – Mhainamtsi – Thekrujuma – Piphema – Kohima – Jakhama – Pfutsero – Meluri – Kiphire – Tuensang – Tobu – Aboi – Wakching – Tamlu – Merangkong – Tuli – Yajang – Foothill road – Niuland – Dimapur.

RPP also informed that the distance to be covered is 1200 plus km and the estimated days of walk would be of 40 days. The party said that it would traverse the foothill road to highlight the apathetic attitude of the state government despite pleas from all quarters and accordingly it added that for the RPP, the walk is a “philosophy and an excellent medium” to share the party’s ideology and vision with the people.

The other purpose of the proposed walk is to reach out to the grassroots and to listen to their grievances and hear their vision for a “new Nagaland”.
