Alleging mismanagement by the authorities of Manipur Technical University, All Manipur Muslims Students’ Organisation on Wednesday shut the office of vice chancellor and administrative block.
AMMSO had issued a seven-day ultimatum demanding resignation of VC Tongbram Bhabeswar on moral ground and urged the state government to look into the matter seriously.
The student body, in a release, said that threats have been made to the members of AMMSO and also approached to “compromise” the matter using financial incentives. The student body asserted that it will stand strongly until the matter is resolved in the larger interest of the student community of the state.
AMMSO had urged the governor of Manipur to review the appointment of Tongbram Bhabeswar as Vice Chancellor of prestigious Manipur Technical University as soon as possible.
The student body had recently submitted a representation regarding the “irregularities in the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of Manipur Technical University and Irregularities in the recent recruitment processes of various staffs”.
AMMSO said that the present VC of Manipur Technical University has been appointed “fictitiously” and he is “ineligible and unfit” to hold the position.
